Dear Professor Hsu:

	Many thanks to you and your colleagues for your kind and
helpful sympathy.

	As you probably know, we have invited Mr. Ma Shi-wen of Peking
University, whose research interests overlap mine, to visit the
Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.  I hope he will be able to accept
the invitation.  We would like to proceed slowly, and anyway we have
a limited capacity for visitors.  Nevertheless, I think we could accept another
person for a visit of some months.  As I remarked in Peking, I think
you would benefit from sending a relatively senior person with good
English for a few months.  This would give you a good picture of the
many kinds of research done at Stanford in computer science.  However,
we can consider any proposal.

	Therefore, I suggest you make a definite proposal of who would
come, when, and for how long.  A scientific biography should be included.
After June the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory will be on the main
Stanford campus, and we will have less space than now, and the proposal
will have to compete with other requests for space for visitors.
